ROCKING VIEW.FOLDING HORIZON

2009
Oerol festival, Terschelling, NL

H 2,4m W 5,8m L 11m - twice
steel cable, textile, metal poles, weather

The installation consists of a duo of segregated places where the time stands still and the space is in motion. The experience of the island is compressed into two highlighted locations.
On the hill on the edge of the dunes and the pine forest, through the trees there are white curtains blowing in the wind. They encircle a space between several trees. Curtains are simulating the walls, together they form an enclosed space that opens and closes repeatedly. It comes to existence and disembodies again pulsing with the wind.
Following an imaginary straight line to the beach, the space from the forest is duplicated here, the trees being substituted by white metal poles.
